Fest Fest Post: Join FilmSoc UEL

So, it’s been great to meet so many of you at the Freshers Fair and then at our events.  We’ve had over 100 people attend our screenings and the week isn’t even over yet!

FilmSoc UEL (the UEL Film Society, natch) is really proud to be an inclusive society that work with the University, the Union, the Societies, the Students and the local community.  We focus on three key areas:

  • Watching films
  • Writing about films
  • Making films

We hold multiple screenings each week (including special weekend screenings for students based in halls), we write about films as part of 20FOUR FRAMES, our wonderful magazine, (which we can now confirm has a sweet page in the new UEL newspaper Oh My Daze) and we’re a community of film makers, who support people in making films, upskilling and making contacts.

So if you like to watch films, want to try your hand at writing reviews or are a budding filmmaker, soundtrack artist, writer, anything, it’s a great society to get involved in.  You could be a Graphic Designer who is interested in designing posters, a Photographer who wants to come to our events, a Sports Student who just loves watching films, an Architecture Student with a double life as a film director, you could be anyone and there’d be space for you!

Membership is £5 and comes with lots of perks – such as free entry to all our events, discounts and some special offers with our partners, Picturehouse Stratford and discount at a local cafe.

You can also sign up to our mailing list just to find out when our events are happening.

We’d love to have you!
