As part of our Freshers’ Film Festival, we are working in conjunction with different societies to screen films close to their hearts. Tonight, come watch The Blind Side with the RAG society. But first, read a little about them here.
RAG, or Raise and Give, is a newly reformed society that looks to encourage people to fundraise and give something back to society. This year, we are supporting The Lions Club and Village by Village. Our aim is to raise over £5000 by having as much fun as possible!
On Thursday (19th September) we will be showing “The Blind Side”, an Oscar winning film, starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron. The film is based on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who take in a homeless teenage African-American, Michael “Big Mike” Oher. Michael has no idea who his father is and his mother is a drug addict. Michael has had little formal education and few skills to help him learn. Leigh Anne soon takes charge however, as is her nature, ensuring that the young man has every opportunity to succeed. It’s a moving film that really shows how even the smallest kindness can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
So check out the film, find out a little bit more about what we do and help us raise money for others!
