60 Second Review: The Paperboy

In a rush? We’re back with another quick dose of movie review goodness, in our ’60 Second Review’ series. This week, find out what Lelde Matroze thinks of The Paperboy.

The Paperboy is a thriller written and directed by Lee Daniels. It’s been three years since his previous work, Precious, and now he is back with this exciting offering. Considering the cast, in particular Zac Efron, I half-expected a rom-com or romantic drama, but this film subverted all my expectations. It had everything; violence, love, family, drama and sex. Many scenes are not for the faint-hearted!

Reporter Ward Jansen (Matthew McConaughey) from Miami comes back to his home town to investigate a Sheriff’s murder. He is assisted by his brother Jack Jansen (Zac Efron) and partner Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo). Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman) is completely smitten and betrothed to the convicted Hillary van Wetter.

Expect peeing on people, many other bizarre moments and a truly gripping ride.

Definitely a must see.
